We are thrilled to announce that our Director Marie Liden has been awarded US based Chicken & Egg Accelerator Lab grant and the UK’s Guiding Lights: Feature Focus mentorship scheme! This is to continue and complete her fantastic work on her film Electric Malady
Chicken & Egg’s Accelerator Lab is designed to support first- and second-time nonfiction female filmmakers, the program offers each finalist a $35,000 grant as well as year-long creative and professional mentorship. This year’s cohort hails from eight different countries.
With Guiding Lights, Marie will be mentored by Directors Peter Middleton and James Spinney who work across a range of fiction, documentary and cross-platform projects including their feature documentary, Notes on Blindness, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for three BAFTAs in 2017.
These are huge achievements for Marie Liden and mean great strides for our Electric Malady production.
This week Aconite Productions are in Amsterdam for the 30th edition of IDFA!
It has been a great pleasure to attend this event; meeting other creative minds and watching exciting new films premiere on screen. IDFA is a celebration of creativity in the documentary industry and we are delighted to be involved.
Here’s some of our team; Aimara Reques, Lorna Ferguson and Elizabeth Benjamin
at the event.
Aconite is delighted to announce that Elizabeth Benjamin has now joined our family, as a Producer of Marketing and Distribution. A communications specialist for 14 years, and an impact producer since 2007, Elizabeth brings her expertise and enthusiasm to Aconite.
“I began my career working at the British Film Institute developing a passion for artistic and socially minded films. I’ve worked with a range of filmmakers over the years, from Shane Meadows and The Dardenne Brothers to the late Mike Grigsby, Penny Woolcock and Laura Poitras. Aconite has a great slate and I am excited to be part of the team.”
Meanwhile, after a successful world premiere in Sheffield Doc/Fest in June, BRASILIA: LIFE AFTER DESIGN has hit the road, and is now touring in Festivals around the world to include: Bergen International Film Festival in Norway; Arquiteturas Film Festival in Lisbon, Melbourne’s Environmental Film Festival, Planet in Focus Film Festival in Toronto, Margaret Mead Film Festival in New York…
